Race report by Alexander Hagberg
The round 4 of the immensly popular ETS series was held in the village of Mattsee, close to Salzburg, in Austria. The track was built temprorarily on a newly laid out asphalt surface, and covered with a tent, to prevent rain from affecting the track conditions. The track size was smaller than what we are used to on asphalt, and boards were used as track markers much in fashion with the "US style" type of racing. The track was technical and unforgiving. The race saw 250 entries in three different classes. XRAY team drivers from all over Europe joined the race to compete for the win.

In the modified class, I had some consistent runs but a bit too slow, to be able to qualify 7th overall. I struggled a bit with the feel of the car this time, but thanks to my team mates, particularly Martin Hudy and Francesco Martini, we worked hard together to improve the car for the finals. In the finals, I managed, thanks to some smart driving, to improve from 7th to 5th in the overall results, especially as I finished 3rd in the last final of the day. I was of course not completely satisfied with the result but sometimes we have to accept the facts and do the best we can with what we have. Magnus Vässmar narrowly missed out on the A as well after some decent qualifiers. Martin Hudy and Tim Wahl joined him in the B-final. Marco Kaufmann, Niclas Nilsson and Francesco Martini qualified for the C-final which is also a respectable result in this tough ETS competition.

In the pro stock class, it was going to be an all-out battle between the two pre-event favourites Jan Ratheisky and Marek Cerny, both running XRAY T4 2014 cars. In the end, it was Jan who was the most consistent throughout qualifying, and managed to take TQ honours in front of Marek. The finals ended with the same result. Andreas Myrberg was at times extremely fast but suffered from a few mistakes in qualifying which prevented him from topping the time sheets. In the finals, he had bad luck with some very unfair racing moves from the competition. However, congratulations to all of you for a great showing and great racing the whole weekend.

In the formula class, Jan Ratheisky continued his winning streak by taking the TQ & overall win. Francesco Martini completed the podium in a strong 3rd, also running the XRAY prototype car. Another fine result for our team in the formula division. This win mean that XRAY won two out of three classes at the event, which is an impressive result in itself.

I want to thank all XRAY drivers for their attendance. But I would like to especially thank the youngsters Brano Mova and Radek Voda for your respective performances. We are proud to have you guys on the team! Until next time.
